For about 5 minutes
Rock Corral Road
I started at the small camp area past the actual corral.
Headed West on the road for about 40 yards and then cut straight up the hill.
Lots of flowers.
About ¾ of the way up I heard some vehicles coming fast
And figured it was BP.
NOPE two Jeeps and they both stopped to watch me.
So darted a little and then hid behind a bush… and then darted again
And hid again. Had to laugh as they pointed and talked excitedly

As I got closer to the top of the ridge it gradually got less steep until at the top is was nearly level.
¾ of a mile later I came to a cliff that was probably 50-60 feet tall and had enough cracks that I could have made it but it was hot already. Actually only in the 80;s and the some would come and go but I had taken it too fast up the hill.
-
Lots of solid bare rock made the next half hour easier to get to where I wanted to drop into the canyon.
A good amount of water but it was easy to rock hop across.
2 miles went by pretty quick the first mile I stopped in the shade several times but with the rain I was afraid to sit down because of chiggers.
Want to go back in the winter to climb the cliff and the ridge behind. It looks not so steep. |
