| partners | | john suggested finishing our set of peaks in the mcdowell sonoran preserve north today
we got going around 0645 at granite mountain trailhead
33 degrees but no wind so doable even for me
shed layers once we started up cholla mountain
easier and shorter than little granite but still full of loose scree and sticker bushes, including catclaw and cholla - imagine that
hit the higher boulder on the summit and found a register
john led a slightly different line on the descent which wasn't bad at all
back on perfectly groomed and mostly flat trail, we made our way over to fraesfield mountain
very little brush but a lot of loose ankle buster rock
took a snack break up top and enjoyed the views
temps warmed up to low 60s
just a beautiful morning to be out
a couple of flat and smooth miles on the return to granite mountain trailhead
this outing completes my second set of these peaks
