| no partners | | I drove with Chris to the Ironwood National Monument and then drove about 1/4 mile South down the road. We decided to park and walk the road since it was a good road. We walked 0.94 miles of road and then saw a trail entrance from the road. The trail ended up being better than expected and took us all of the way to the saddle between Ragged Top and Wolcott peak. The trail crossed the wash 2 times on the way up to the saddle. At the saddle the trail continued toward Ragged Top but we found another branch on the Southwest side of the saddle, heading up Wolcott peak. The trail was faint in some places and we needed to guess the route at times, but kept zig zagging and climbing higher. There were a few steep areas which required hand grips. At the peak there was a registry under a few rocks. Some of the pages were damp from rain but we were able to sign the registry, seal it good, and put some rocks on top to keep it dry. Next, we carefully climbed back down to the saddle and took the trail back to the road and the road back to the vehicle. This was a great hike overall that I may decide to do again someday.
