| no partners | | Parked near the graded road and hiked to the saddle between Ragged Top and Wolcott. There is a pretty good trail from the "trailhead" to the saddle, and slightly beyond. It appears to be new, and may be under construction.
We went up Wolcott for a our first of two summits, ate lunch there and then started towards Ragged Top. New trail is being built towards the south gully of Ragged Top, but it wasn't always appearant.
The hike up the south gully is filled with chuparosa and will have a lot of flowers when it warms up.
Summits of both peaks was great, and a lot of snow covered ranged were visible.
Heading down the northwest gully was cold, but stable. Seemed easier than I recall, but then I have done a lot of desert peaks in the last decade. We crossed a lush green wet desert and made it back to my car.
Nice day, decent AEG but few miles. Wolcott adds 500 feet from the saddle, and we did about another 2 miles, or so. |
