| no partners | | I summited this one after Camelback so I wasn't operating on a fully charged battery. Also, on the first 5 minutes of walking up, I came across a trail maintenance guy who was looking for help carrying water and cement bags up past the first big saddle. At first, I thought he was joking, then I realized he was doing trail maintenance. I volunteered to help since I had the energy and could do it. I'm sure that doing this slowed my overall time, which was very close to my time to summit Camelback. There were much less people hiking this one, but it was obvious that this hike was very popular also, similar to Camelback. This trail was very well maintained all the way up. At the top, most of the people were hanging out on the Western side, but technically, the true peak is a few feet higher on the Eastern side. I found the official survey marker, took some great photos of the entire area and views, then started heading back down the trail.
After hiking this one, I met Dave W. at a Mexican restaurant called Los Taquitos on 16th St. which was not too far from the trailhead. Since I already had lunch a few hours earlier, I just had a horchata, but it was excellent and refreshing. I needed to get to LL Flooring (formerly Lumber Liquidators) in Chandler before 6 pm to pick up my order for laminate flooring. All was successful, went exactly as planned, and it was a great and productive day for me! |
