Started around 1120am. Weather was great - 70s, sunny. Creek had mild-moderate flow, up to 2 feet deep in some areas. A lot of green. Very serene the entire way, with only the sounds of the creek and the birds.

At one point the trail enters the creek, goes about 10 yards upstream around a cliff wall, and exits the creek on the same side, but we spent about 15 minutes climbing up the side of the cliff until we figured out our mistake and had to work our way back down.

The rest of it was pretty straightforward. There were a lot of cascades and one waterfall down the side of the canyon near Tony Ranch.

Tony Ranch was interesting. We didn't enter the cabin, but looked inside through the open door in the back and through the large hole in the roof.

Beyond Tony Ranch, the trail climbed up and over a ridge, where it became narrower, steeper, and more rocky, with a few thorny branches hanging over the trail, and the views were excellent, especially at the peaceful little pond.

We reached 287A and were looping back to our truck when a friendly gentleman named Art stopped to greet us. He had been clearing the Rock Creek Trail all day and happened to finish at the perfect time to meet us and offer us a ride the rest of the way. We were happy to accept his offer. He shared a lot of stories and information
before dropping us off. Thanks Art!

Other than Art, the only people we saw the entire day were 2 women and 3 very excitable dogs about 2 miles in. They had apparently made it to the first creek crossing before they turned around.

I counted 21 creek crossings total, and all were achievable without getting the feet wet. Overall a beautiful, pleasant day.
