Chilly start at 7:15 AM and 46 degrees but stayed warm bundled up including gloves. Tried hiking with no gloves but uncomfortably cold on my hands. A few Creosotes just starting to green up as well as some winter green grass starting to show in sheltered spots after the light November, December rain about 0.5 inch Nov/Dec rain so far. Passed only 1 other hiker this morning. Nice crisp fresh desert air. Warmed up once the sun was up although the north slope stays shaded most of the day this time of year. Saw a few dove and other birds. Saw several coyotes driving around the area the night before.
