| no partners | | This hike was to the summit of Limestone Mountain (elevation of 7,186 feet and prominence of 1,226 feet). Limestone Mountain is in the Coronado National Forest, and is part of the Chiricahua Mountain range.
I drove in on Rucker Canyon Road and parked off of the road. I stopped before getting to Shake Gulch, which is on a ranch. I circumvented the ranch and went up a ridgeline to the summit from the east.
The going was a bit brushy and steep in places, but not unreasonably so. The hike up was fairly pleasant actually, but there were some trees at the summit which blocked most of the views.
I returned the way that I came.
Synopsis
This hike is in an out-of-the-way place, and with limited views at the summit most people won't want to do this hike. There are certainly better hikes in the Chiricahuas than this one. |
