It was a cool, cloudy, calm, and foggy morning and I figured that it would be a good day for this hike, and it was.

This was an out-and-back hike, although I took the Lower Sonoran Trail on the way out and the Sonoran Trail on the way back.

There were a few people going up or down Thompson Peak Road while I was out there, but I had the summit to myself.

On the way back down Thompson Peak Road 2 girls were going up towards the peak and they asked me if they were going the right way to the Golden Eagle TH. I told them that they were heading up to Thompson Peak, and I gave them the directions to get back to the TH. Hopefully they would have figured out their mistake before they got to the summit, but I am not so sure. It reminds me of people in the Supes heading up to Fremont Saddle trying to find the Wave Cave!
