| no partners | | I took the Pemberton Trail clockwise to the Dixie Mine Trail and took that section over to the Dixie Mine. On the way back, I took the Coachwhip Trail to the border of McDowell Mt. Park and the Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve and then turned around and headed back to the TH. The total distance was about 15.6 miles. This was actually pretty easy to do since the trail is mostly level and not very rocky at all. I'm still trying to learn how to use my new GPS and associated software, so I'm not sure about the AEG, but the 800' listed for the total Pemberton loop seems in the ballpark. The weather was pretty cool most of the day thanks to the cloud cover. Saw no other hikers, only one jogger. The mountain bikers were plentiful. Several times I could hear packs of coyotes howling throughout the park. They never sounded too close and I didn't see any. |
