| no partners | | I got started at 6:40am from the main TH at the eastern end of the park. From there I took the Pemberton Trail northward to the Stoneman Wash Trail, and then took the Granite Trail back to the Pemberton Trail and back, doing a 12.4 mile loop. Early on the temps were very mild since it was morning and there was some cloud cover. I could see what looked like a fire over in the Superstition Mts. somewhere. It didn't look too bad, but the smoke did get heavier throughout the morning.
Saw two small owls in the Stoneman Wash Trail in a hollowed out area from the erosion. Lots of mountain bikers, which is typical for this area. Very nice views of the north face of the McDowells and of Tom's Thumb.
Finished up in 5 hours and as the weather was started to get a bit toasty. |
