| partners | | | Did the Phone Line trail in Sabino Canyon returning via Sabino Canyon Road. Good time of year to do this hike. A little more crowded than the usual hikes we do but the hike is worth it. Sabino Creek was running pretty good but not enough to be flowing over the bridges which made the hike back along the road easier not having to get wet feet. Perfect weather for this hike even though it was a little warm on the road portion later in the day. We took a side trip down to the creek at the upper end of the Phone Line Trail and end of Sabino Canyon road where we took a 30 minute lunch break. On the return route we stopped off at a small water fall along the creek, not sure if in the 60 years I have been coming to this canyon I ever stopped off at this place. On the return road trip rather than take the road back all the way to the start point we took the Sabino Dam Trail, much more pleasant than the road. The clouds in the sky put on an interesting show giving the Catalina Mountains an interesting lighting that was good for photos. Wild flowers were just coming out but not in full, poppies, lupine, globe mallow and a few others. |
