Been doing lots of bike rides between "away" hikes. Figured I needed to add some elevation. Went up the steep dirt way.

2/3s of the way up, water bottle fell out of pocket and, in slow motion, tumbled 30 ft. down the very steep shale slope.

Bail? Continue without it? Rescue it, then continue?

I opted for door #3. It was sketchy, but I managed to avoid taking a 300 ft. tumble.

Pretty decent time.

Wildflowers Observation Light
Ocoillo are peaking. Brittlebush, creosote and scorpionweed still doing well. California suncup. Not too many stinknet.
