| partners | | I got an invite to join Linda and Kelly on this hike in Sedona. It's been 5 years since I've been up here. I never realized that you can use your National Park pass in lieu of paying the Red Rock fee. Good to know.
We started up to a perfect 53 degrees. It's a steady 2.3 mile, 1600' climb to the "First Bench". We had shade most of the way up. It's another mile and 600' up to what should be called the 2nd Bench and the turn to the south overlook. Sweet 180 degree views to Sedona, the surrounding areas and down to the airport.
The mostly flat hike to the north overlook clicked off quickly. We took in the views here which I'd forgotten are actually nicer than the south overlook. After a snack break we started back and hit up the easy off trail to the high point.
We started seeing more people on the way back, but never too crazy. Always fun hiking with these two misfits. Added bonus. We taught each other new "Terms" to expand our vocabularies. |
