| no partners | | | This trail hasn't had a recent triplog, so I decided to update all on the condition of the trail and my little adventure this morning. The drive to the TH is very well maintained and easy. Parking wasn't a problem today - I was the only one on the trail or at the TH. The trail itself is very good, no deadfalls to climb over at all. Made it all the way up to the lookout tower. Navigation is no problem - there's really only one way to go - up and back. The temperature today was glorious (60 degrees!!!, I felt sorry for anyone not in the cool weather. Started at about 7:30am and finished up at 10:20am. Didn't see any big game except for one deer on the way back down to the highway. No sign of bear - tracks nor scat. Elk tracks on the trail. However, it was the strangest thing - I can't remember being anywhere that I've seen so many butterflies and of such variety - very interesting. Lots of flowers too. I had the best time and seemed like I had the whole Escudilla Wilderness Area all to myself. If ever up in the White Mountains, this hike is well worth the drive. So, now I've bagged the three tallest peaks in AZ - not that I set out to do that, but it just happened. |
