| no partners | | It has been 5 years since I hiked up to Escudilla Mountain, so I decided to hike this one again and hopefully see some nice aspen foliage. I'd say that aspens in this area are at or near peak right now, which made for an amazing hike up to the fire lookout tower.
The trail to the lookout tower was in great shape -- there were 3-4 down trees across the trail, which was not difficult to deal with. There were lots and lots of yellow leaves to be seen along the way.
I had been to the summit twice before, but my hiking partner had never been, so we headed to the summit from the lookout tower. It was a real slog dealing with all of the deadfall -- it was much worse than I remembered it being in 2018, which was the last time that I had been to the summit. We managed to make it over there though, and it was just as bad on the way back to the trail.
This is always a nice hike(at least to the fire lookout tower), and it was especially so today with all of the yellow leaves! |
