Turned onto Upper Oldham Trail, recalling fondly the old ham sandwich I’d seen in the dirt at the trailhead the last time, and how fitting it was. Rejoined the road at Oldham Park, enjoyed the views off the east side of the mountain, and then went off trail up to summit of peak 9058’ above Sunset Park. Amazing sunset on top. Followed Mount Elden Road all the way back in the fading light. A good bit of aspen growth coming back in the Museum Fire scar along the road. Very enjoyable hike, I do enjoy the plentiful hike options in the Dry Lake Hills system. Camped that night on the road to Ashurst Lake. |
