Carpooled with Jim and Brian to the Madera Canyon trailhead and then started out in bitter cold up the Old Baldy Trail. Snow started appearing about halfway to Josephine Saddle and gradually increased to maybe 2 or 3 inches near the summit of Wrightson. Lots of others on the trail. The tiny pool at Bellows Spring was frozen solid as rock. Beautiful early winter conditions all around. I was glad to have brought my YakTrax for the summit cone, which had some icy patches. Took our time going up and had the summit to ourselves in the late afternoon. Super clear air and views deep into Sonora and as far east as the Chiricahuas from on top. Golden light and a pretty wispy cloud sunset on the way down. Got down after dark and then headed home. Great day.
