| no partners | | I decided to wrap up my Colorado trip by hiking to a couple of 14ers: Grays Peak (14,276') and Torreys Peak (14,272').
I started and ended the hike at the Grays and Torreys Summer Trailhead, which is only about 3 miles off of I-70. The road is fairly rough and I was glad to have a high clearance 4WD vehicle. However, I did see some crossover SUV's and even a couple of sedans at the TH.
I hiked up to Grays first and then Torreys. The trails are in good shape and the hike is mostly class 1. As expected, there were quite a few people on the trails, but it was a good group of hikers -- there was no music blaring and most everybody practiced good trail etiquette.
It was a nice day for the hike -- it was sunny early and then had some clouds later. I started early and finished by noon. It was cold and windy on Grays, but there was barely any breeze at all on Torreys.
There were some nice views on the hike, and I enjoyed the hike even with the crowds. |

Wildflowers Observation Light There were a few flowers within a mile or so of the TH, but none past that. |
