| no partners | | I hiked out to Willow Spring after we hiked down the North Fork of KP Creek. I wanted to see if any trail maintenance had been done on Steeple, as well as Upper Grant. The first half mile or so of Steeple had been been cleared, but it was typical Blue Range after that with some major deadfall within the first mile and then pretty clear trail to Willow Spring. Meanwhile, Upper Grant Creek Trail is barely discernable near its intersection with Steeple. Water at the spring, but dry everywhere else to include the meadow area that serves as the headwaters of Grant Creek. From other trail reports and the couple of trails I hiked Saturday, it appears any momentum the forest service gained a few years ago on clearing the trails in the Blue Range has stopped and it does not appear much work has been done out there this summer. I get the locust is tough to keep up with, but all mountain trails from here to Montana deal with deadfall, not much of an excuse for not being able to get in and cut these trails every other summer, or so. Nevertheless, still a pleasant stroll with the pup. |
