The trail is very doable. There is a small climb from the road, but after that the trail holds its elevation. Nice views along the way. There was a slot canyon that opened up below to the left. It was a decent drop off, but most of it was railed. I could see and hear people below in the canyon. (Talked with the Ranger at the tunnel and he said that one needed a wilderness permit to hike the canyon. Access to the slot was at the Canyon Overlook parking area. Looked very tempting and very doable). Hike to the Overlook was very enjoyable. Trail was very engaging with boardwalks, wannabe caves and great distant views. And the views only got better when you reached the end of the trail. There was a small rail at the Overlook, but there was quite a bit of exposure on either side of the rail. Fantastic views! Great reward for little effort. Highly recommended for all. |
