Patagonia-Turkey Flats and Washington camp
We’ve had a lot of rain so I thought I would check out one of my favorite mining areas to look for crystals and pyrite.
Success!
Parked near the water tanks and headed down an access road. 4695 I think. Several open mines out this way. Gotta be careful around the ones that go straight down. Not gonna climb out of one of those and NO, I don’t ever go in them.
The road is only about 600 feet long and it ends at a perfect camping spot. Lots of thick trees for shade.
From here it looked like I just needed to go through the fence and head toward the mine BUT the path played out very quickly. I Hopped another fence near the gate and there was a cattle trail all the way.
This path met with a road and it lead all the way to the tailings.
I took a “Short cut” back. Glad I parked near the tanks because I could see them from the ridge I was on. Found another mine on the way back to the truck.
8:22 left the truck Temp was 68 and the breeze made it chilly
8:48 – edge of tailings – looked around for a while.
10:05 headed back – it was getting warm and I had some other places to check out.
10:40 back at the truck – 82 degrees
All the roads were in great shape in spite of the rain.
Total silence today.
