| partners | | The second Day in Payson we headed back up to the Highway 260 Trail Head to do the Drew Trail. This is the Eastern end of the Highline Trail. Fairly easy walking compared to the Military Sinkhole and the scenic hike through Juniper, Pinion, fir and oak forest kept you busy. Still a little fall color along this trail bit not as much as was on the Military Sinkhole Trail.
Made it to the junction in the trail where the Drew Trail heads up to the top of the rim. We will not be attempting that (did that a few years ago and it was rough). Beautiful weather for this hike. I have hiked the Highline trail before but Ginny has not so we will be heading back to pick up a few more sections in the future. After arriving to our start point at the 260 Trailhead we hiked a little way up the Military Sinkhole trail to catch the trees with fall color, probably the best showing in this area. We got there a little bit late the sun had already gone down behind the ridge. There are some really magnificent Alligator bark Junipers along this trail. |
