This was a hike to a couple of peaks in the Pategonia Mountains of Southern Arizona:
1) Veterans Peak (elevation of 7,200 feet and prominence of 425 feet)
2) Mount Washington (elevation of 7,221 feet and prominence of 1,709 feet)

Mount Washington is the high point of the range.

I parked along the well graded Duquesne Road.

There was a use trail of sorts most of the way to these heavily forested peaks. It wasn't bushwhacking per se, but there were lots of tree limbs and tree branches that would smack you in the head and face along the way. I was wishing that I had worn one of those masks that hockey goalies wear!

I went up to Veterans Peak first and then Mount Washington. I reversed course on the way back so I summitted Veterans twice.

There were several boulders on Veterans that I tagged in order to be sure to make it to the high point. I am not sure which one of the boulders was higher, but I figure that I got the high point. There was a cairn on Mount Washington marking the obvious high point; the cairn also contained a summit register, which I signed.

Neither summit had much in the way of views -- too many trees. There were some occasional nice views along the hike though.

There was a good bit of trash from illegals along the way, but it did not look very recent. I saw some bear scat in a few places, and it did not look very recent either.

It was an enjoyable day out there, but the going was slow with all the tree branches to deal with. This would not be a good hike for a casual hiker.
