I've been battling a cold but still wanted to get out, so I opted to finish up a section of the Cottonwood Trail. I've hiked in Cottonwood Canyon from FR 83 previously but had not done the Frazier TH section. While technically not in the wilderness boundary it is still considered a Supes hike and is in Carlson's book so I wanted to check this section off. The trail is well groomed from Frazier as it goes over several small ridges and down into Cottonwood Creek. From there it connects with the Arizona Trail and turns into a road until you reach the corral and water trough, which was my stopping point. Even though it was only a 5-mile hike it was all uphill and I topped out at just over 1,000 AEG which was plenty for my congested self .
