| no partners | | Back at the new old place. I car camped high up on a thin ridge, a pain to get the Toy turned around to get set up. I was not enamored of my plan, devised several others, then started out the next morning on the planned route. The canyon was steppy and no less than 4 tunnels to explore. One had fair color. They had gone in at the base of a fin like formation. None of these were on my map. On up the canyon I spied a road cut, so overgrown not even easily seen on GE. The road was definitely a mining haulage road, good grade and some very nice rock work to hold in the dirt. I climbed and stopped in at a large shaft, huge flat tailings spread. On up I went. My goal was much higher and I was just not feeling it. My pants didn't want to stay up and I had forgot my hat. I got to the tank and took a little look at the road coming up the other side. Some wash outs. Might be a Jeep trip for this one.
I went back down the road to see if I could connect it to a road across the way that I was on a couple of weeks ago. Faint, steep, washed out but yes it connected. A little longer back to the car.
On the drive out took another road that might get me to another place. Looks like it's a go, shortens the hiking in a bit. Saw only one tank with water, and when I pulled up 20-25 Javelina raced off. I felt a little guilty disturbing them. |
