| no partners | | Great early light; not many campers/hunters about. The road rough in spots and about the same. I parked in the last reasonable campspot before the very end. It looks like past the first little rock garden nobody is driving the spur end even in ATV's. Trail was brushy in spots and a few nuisance trees on trail. At first I thought I would be disappointed as the first trailside large maples still green but then I spied a glorious marmalade one in full color. The lower maples look healthy and look like they will turn in a week or so with islands of red in their branches. Of course the best maples were scattered and off trail to get to. Not a lot but some gorgeous reds. I turned around after some photos and it started to rain. Soon I had to don the gear and it was wonderful watching the rocks and vegetation glow. The only thing is I didn't remember the presence of so much PI which I bushwaked thru a lot of it, glad I had long pants on. Fun drive out got some mud on the toyota and in my house. Will see what the photos do. |
