| no partners | | This was a FOMO hike. On my drive back from Ash Creek last weekend noted some of the cottonwoods turning in the San Pedro drainage. I soon became anxious I might miss some nice colors in a couple of canyons. So out the door early, long drive in, park and look down into some vague color. Needs another week or so. Driving out I looked over and decided I would do an off trail walkabout. Probably 50 percent of these are not very exciting. This one was not in that 50%.
I made my way down into a small ravine intending to cross it and go high. The ravine started to canyon up and show some vertical rock walls. I decided to go down the canyon. Started to rock up and catclaw up. Found a somewhat interesting trail, mostly animal in nature but seemed to have some leveled tred. Some of it was thin and I reminded myself to not look down. I was soon pretty far above the canyon floor but had a ringside view of fluted cliffs and rough walls. It was a beautiful area. I decided to not go down to the floor as it looked very rough but I could see some large cottonwoods that would indicate an intersection to the main canyon, although due to the folds in the terrain could not see it. If this works out I could make a crude loop out of it. I'll be back !!! |
