Later start Sunday morning hike. Did the FR10/Deer Tanks/Wolverine Pass loop counter clockwise. Before getting on Wolverine Pass I headed up into the canyon north of Idaho Road that has the big rock spire in it. There's a trail I spotted on aerials that goes around the east side of the spire and dead ends at a cliff. Along the way up the canyon there is a junction with another trail that goes to the ridge on the other side of the canyon. I decided not to explore that, but if I had, it looks like it might meet up with the service road to the towers there. maybe another day. Short hike, but still nearly got 1000' AEG in and explored a new area to me.
