Started from the Hiero TH to keep it shorter. On my way in I saw they were setting up for the marathon that I forgot about. Fortunately Kings Ranch Road was still open. At the trailhead I saw Ray Huston and some of his friends getting an early start up the petroglyphs. After talking with him for a bit, I took off.

the lower trail is fainter in places and braided, there are a few different routes you can take. Hopefully someone will spray this soon so it's easier to follow

. Around halfway up, the trail gets clearer and easier to follow. I got to the top and made may over to the actual peak, which has a little bit of exposure to try to get to. Very nice views up there. While I was up there I looked over at the Wedding Cake and there were 2 or 3 hikers over there at the summit. Also heard a couple packs of coyotes howling at each other while I was up there.

Made my way down and hiked the dirt road down to the Old Horse Trail and then made a loop back to the parking lot. I had thought that the marathon would have reduced the late morning hordes, but it was the worst I've seen it. Then on the way out the traffic to 60 and on 60 was slow until you got past the barracades that they were just taking down.

Saw only one hiker on my way down from Turks Head until I got to the trailhead, then everyone was on their way to the glyphs. Saw a coyote the last mile before the parking lot. Weather stayed cool, light clouds made it not too sunny.
