The Blue Mountains are a 1-2 hour drive from Sydney and lie about 3000 ft. above sea level. And while they are called the mountains, there are no peaks to be seen. Rather, the traiheads and communities are on a mountain plateau, with all of the hikes starting on the "rim" and going down. They could well be named the blue canyons. :-)
This hike was a great one to kick of our Australian adventure. Much more green than the AZ Grand Canyon. The trail is well constructed and maintained and weaves through a lush canyon with a sometimes narrow, slot feel. Easy to drive to, with plenty of parking.
We took an off-track route over to check out Beachamp Falls, which turned out to be a highlight!
A nice taste of the Blues. |
