| no partners | | There is a cliff top track that connects Govett's Leap with the Grand Canyon track we did earlier in the day. I would have liked to do the cliff track, and enjoy the distant views into the Blue Mountains, but we were running out of daylight at the end of the GC hike, so decided to drive over to the lookout instead. (In the Australian winter, days are short--it was dark by 5 pm.)
Glad we did. We caught the last vestige of the sunset on the opposing cliff tops and had just enough light to do a short jaunt out to Barrow Lookout.
The views of the 590 ft. Bridal Veil/Govett's Leap falls is dramatic. There is a trail ("track" in Australia) that goes to the base of the falls, but it was closed due to trail damage from recent heavy rains that had caused road and trail damage throughout New South Wales. :-(
Still the viewpoint was a great way to end our first day Down Under. |
