The toyota danced on the badly washboarded part of the road until I shut the traction control off so I could actually drive the vehicle and not put up with auto correct. Several vehicles, unusual, one almost ran me off the road and I had a suspicion they were out to pick someone up.
On the rancher trail with correct footwear this time. At the saddle went down canyon, it dropped fast and I saw little evidence of a trail. I entered the canyon beyond the rock hoodoo of earlier. The water levels are dropping fast without rain. However, the future cast shows some rain for this area. Sure. I went downcanyon and picked up a good use trail. One area was spooky with all the trash and hypodermics. Don't touch anything down here without gloves. I went over a saddle on a very good trail and intersected a canyon with a fair amount of water coming down it with a low flow. However I was committed to the main, and went down that. The canyon was mostly dry and soon had some large benches with big oak trees and pretty well greened up. I turned a corner and recognized where I was once more. Typical labyrinth stuff.
Back to the Yota scaring up some deer and seeing some more flowers. The Caltrop stands are still doing pretty well. Will see what the weather brings. |
