| partners | | Deb and I first did this hike in 2010. It's an easy hike with a dependable color show. It seemed we were a week or so away from peak foliage, but it was still worthy. Hopefully, the forecasted winds and rain don't knock too many more leaves from the trees.
We saw one person turkey hunting while we ate our lunch at the Buck Springs Cabin.
Temperatures and weather were picture-perfect.
We came in on FR300 from the west, driving the 22 miles to our turn at FR137. The first 19 miles were in good to great condition. After that (and when we later continued east on FR300), the road is in rough condition until you hit the A/S boundary.
We attempted to stop at Knoll Lake on the way out, but the entire area is currently closed. They are trying to eradicate the nonnative Green Sunfish to protect the native fish. |
