We both have been to the Falls several times and decided to add a couple of loops to the hike to make it more interesting. Plus, we both wanted the extra exercise. On the first loop we followed a ridge top off-trail on the east side of Camp Creek for about a mile, then connected with a short section of the Maricopa Trail taking us to the bottom of a wash that we then followed back to Camp Creek near the Falls. After visiting the Falls, we followed a section of the Maricopa Trail on the west side of Camp Creek for about 0.6 miles. Then, went off-trail for another 0.6 miles to return to the Blue Wash Trailhead. The ridge top part of the hike provided some great views of the mountains near Kentuck Mountain and a clear long distant view towards Continental Mountain to the west. The springtime greenery of the desert flora was also a treat despite there being only a light showing of wildflowers. |
