This one scored high with both me and my Grandson - lots of rocks for him to climb with no trail stewards to worry about, a flowing waterfall, and a Red-tailed Hawk sighting. The distance reported was Grandpa miles. Michael probably came close to doubling that distance with his constant dithering back and forth exploring along the route and climbing practically every rock worth climbing. Unfortunately I had to limit his exploring because I wanted to get back to the car before dark. The creek was flowing with crystal clear water with sufficient flow rate to put on a decent show at the falls without getting wet feet hiking up the creek. The trail is well worn and easy to follow. However there are many well worn side trails leading who knows where that beg to be explored but could cause some route finding problems if the hiker doesn't know to stay in the bottom of Blue Wash until reaching Camp Creek where you turn left to follow the creek to the falls. |
