This was probably the best of the Valley of Fire trails we did, in my opinion.
The trail started with a solid incline that was the loose sand typical of the park. Quite the intimidating start! but at least that part was in the shade. After that there was a rocky descent that was almost a scramble, it was a good thing the grandparents had gotten tired and opted out of this one, they would not have been happy on it.
Shortly afterwards there was a set of ruins that apparently were the set of a movie in the 30's, not to much left of it at this point but there was a plaque with a description of it.
Then the trail went through a slot canyon. This spot was particularly scenic, it was a bit like red canyon slot though not as long. It was a great spot for photos and probably the easiest to access slot canyon I have come across.
Continuing the loop there were several scenic vistas and small natural arch.
There was a lot of things to see in a really short loop trail that was not particularly difficult (even with Eanáir on my back and the hot weather). I would definitely do this one again if I were in the area. |
