Wanted to take an interesting and scenic day hike with my daughter who is on leave from Iraq. This hike was definitely all that. It was cold and windy on the rim at the beginning of the hike but we soon warmed up as we descended towards Horseshoe Mesa. We explored the mines and ruins on the mesa before hiking to Cave of the Domes (cavern). Next we hiked out to the end of the mesa's eastern arm which is quite scenic, providing views of the Colorado river east (Hance rapid) and west. Then we hiked down the trail to Pace (Miner's) spring exploring the Last Chance mine before making the hike back up to Horseshoe mesa and the Grandview trailhead. Great trip for us. Highly recommended.
