Rounding Lizard Rock, I entered a winter wonderland. I pulled over at the Bigelow trailhead, and got out to take a few photos. Ghostly cloud cover, still air, and 3 inches of fresh, untrodden snow drew me into the forest. Countless photos later, I reached the summit and its frosted towers, where I sent several "wish you were here" texts, before heading back. Driving down, I witnessed saguaro silhouettes and city lights in the coppery dusk, and then it was off to dinner with a friend. There's nothing quite like the sky island experience! |
