| partners | | With ten minutes of the day wasted we got hiking at 12:10am. The weather for the day was perfect save 2 hours of wind in the beginning. Chills set in if you stopped for more than five minutes. Overall much better than anticipated. Lucky too as I packed extra light with only one long sleeve and one short sleeve wicking shirts, no jacket.
We cleared the first 3rd of the hike to Reavis Creek. Took a moderate six hours since this was the bulk of AEG. Here we pumped water then woke?, met and chatted with Andy, Mike and Daren for about 45min total. Most know the bond Drewboy and azmike share... Still on par this outting wearing matching smurf booties
Finally had the chance to hike Frog Tanks #112 & NW section of Roger's Canyon Trail #110. Both were at peak Autumn foliage in with Sycamores a stunning orange tossed in with some hearty yellows on others. Rogers is pretty dang cool. I'll definitely be back to enjoy this one in the future.
My memories of Randolph being a cool little jaunt from Woodbury faded as we cursed the boulder hopping on this extended hike. Bob and I checked out a couple side trails near Reeds Water waiting for Wally. Missed him then boogied back to the trailhead to enjoy a comfy seat in the truck.
We finished at 5:20pm. Realized the backpackers hadn't finished completing the car shuttle so we waited a cold hour and forty mins. Gave 'em hell, thanked 'em too (very much appreciated) for making this day possible. Thanks to all the day hikers and backpackers! Thanks to Darrell and his friend for waiting to be sure our ride showed up
The catsclaw is overrated, it really wasn't much of a factor. Anyone that wants to complain about catsclaw needs to be sure and hike the Twin Peaks Trail in the Bradshaws before making assumptions of the definition of bad. This proved to be the easiest and most difficult 38 mile hike of my life, it was my first
Autumn Foliage was substantial in the canyons. Since it was maybe a 1/4 of this hike I only went with moderate. |
