Back on the trails with Kelly. A bit chilly to start, then perfect once we got warmed up from hiking uphill. Not as many hikers out as I expected, especially at Dobbins Lookout. Some nice wildflowers. Not many poppies on this side of the range. Good hike. Thanks Kelly! :)

went to central avenue entrance to south mountain only to discover it is silent sunday
drove over to 7th ave parking area
short section on road leads to the water tank along holbert
went to dobbins lookout and returned
kind of a waste of a drive for that short a hike, but i did find the parking area that cuts off all the boring reconfiguration for holbert
time to break out new trail running shoes as i was slipping and sliding on wet rock

Good workout loop with Daniela. Up Telegraph, east on National. North on Holbert, with a side trip to Dobbins. Down Holbert, the new reroute at the bottom is kind of blah. Walked across the parking lot and hopped onto Lomitas, up Kiwanis, then finished on Telegraph. Didn’t see many people. Had a good amount of shade for the first half. Warm coming up Kiwanis. Barely hit double digit mileage.

john suggested we check out the helicopter pad above buena vista lookout
dobbins and gila lookouts were due in the rotation, although the exact combo was up for discussion until hitting the holbert turnoff
dobbins first, then gila valley
saw very few people until returning on geronimo

Not too shabby of a hike completed three weeks post appendectomy. Well organized, fun romp but likely one and done for this circuit. I was happy to have Kriket along for company on summits 2, 4 & 7. Dreamy Draw start sixteenth of 104 finishers. 8:55:44 total time.
