I love this trail. My wife and I used to backpack here with our dogs. We are visiting Arizona again for a few months and decided to visit this trail again...sadly our doggies are too old to make the hike. Looks like this trail hasn't got much use in the past few years. The road in is much worse than I remember it, and the trail head signs were gone...otherwise its still a beautiful hike. I tried fly fishing but the wind was too much for more poor casting skills.

Took this hike to check out the dam and try a new camera. Somehow we missed the dam and hiked up hill for a while till the trail split at another trail. Saw lots of little gray lizards and nice views of Tucson and the various mountain ranges.

Did this loop again to look for snakes. Ended up seeing a bunch of lizards a rattle snake, Gopher snake and a Gila Monster. I'd say this hike was a success.

Went for what was supposed to be a short hike, ended up getting lost. It got dark and we were still on the trail. Came across a bunch of rattlesnakes in the dark on the trail. Overall I think I lost a few years off my life nearly stepping on two rattlesnakes. Otherwise it was a nice hike. Next time I'll remember a map and fresh batteries for the petzel!

Only did about half the hike due to the fact is was 98f at the trail head. Overall it was a nice trail. A bit over grown, seems like it doesn't get a lot of use. Saw various lizards and a nice horny toad.

After 2 years of living in Oregon we've moved back to the Southwest and have taken our first hike! What can I say about the Mica trail that hasn't been said already. It's a nice easy trail, lot's of nice views, we saw a jackrabbit, a kangaroo rat, quails, a roadrunner, and various lizards and a rattlesnake. It's nice to be hiking in AZ again.
