From carney trailhead we hiked up to robbers roost. It took us quite awhile to find, even with gps, but eventually...then turned around and heading back the same way.

Spent a night down by reavis creek and went up to see the falls the next day before heading out. Just trickling water but still so nice to see water flowing in the sups. I was confused with all the hunters going in and out at the Reavis trailhead. I thought you couldn't hunt in wilderness area?

I really enjoy the 2nd half of this hike. From red tanks divide, heading into upper La Barge canyon, hiking down through and on to whiskey springs. About an hour nap at whiskey springs then back to car right at sunset. I think we were out for about 10hrs. The weather was perfect.

From Reavis Ranch up the fire line trail then followed cairns up to circle stone. From circle stone, followed gpsjoe's track up to the summit. I really liked this one because it wasn't much elevation gain to get to the highest point in the sups. Plus, it's cool climbing up surrounded by trees with no view and then you pop out at top with incredible 360 views all over. Very nice...Overall, my trip was day 1 - rogers trough to reavis ranch, day 2 mound mtn summit then back to Reavis, day 3 back out. Summit could be a very long 1 day, okay 2 days, or comfy 3 day trip. Looking at Pinto Peak from the top looked like fun and I'd like to get back out to do that if I can find someone. Probably won't be until late February or early March. Looks like it can be done as a very long day or nice overnight trip.

I really enjoyed the first 3/4ths of this hike: from Carney TH up to the top and then down to fremont saddle. Based on the other triplogs, I wasn't so sure what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The gps route led through a few tricky sections but overall, not too bad. Loads of fun scrambling through all the rocks and hoodoos on the top and great views up there. I'll definitely keep this in mind for future day hikes. Only drawback is you need a shuttle from Peralta Th back to Carney. Walking isn't really an appealing option for me. From fremont saddle back to Peralta TH, there was a highway of people so I didn't care so much for that part of the hike.

nice hike up to summit. I would be curious if the large flat area before reaching the summit fills up with wild flowers later in year.

We did this dripping springs super loop as a 3 night backpacking trip and added a side excursion up La Barge Mtn...

We left Peralta trailhead east on Dutchman's trail past Miner's needle and continued east on Coffee Flat trail past the windmill to Dripping springs. From there, the nicely groomed trails ended and we continued north into Red Tanks Canyon and setup camp near the entrance to Randolph's Canyon. Day 2 we headed up Randolph's Canyon and up the southern face of La Barge Mountain and then returned to the same campsite for night 2. Day 3 we continued up Red Tanks Canyon until we could head west through the upper La Barge Box (This canyon is amazing but I'd say it's a bit misleading calling it a "box")and then enter Whiskey Springs canyon to setup camp the third night. Day 4 we continued out of Whiskey canyon past Miner's needle and connected back to Dutchman's trail for the final stretch. Overall, we spent 4 days and 3 nights and traveled about 27.7 miles. This trip was over New Years and temperatures dropped below freezing on at least two of the nights. :o

Parts of Red Tanks canyon were very overgrown with catclaw and other prickly plants. The side excursion up randolphs canyon was very overgrown and navigating up randolphs canyon to LaBarge summit was difficult and strenuous. With long pants and long shirt, we're still picking needles out of our bodies days after this one and have scratches all over.

The La Barge summit is one of those hikes I'm really glad I did but I'll never do again. From the entrance of Randolphs Canyon, the roundtrip took right around 8 hours. I would not recommend this side trip without a GPS and a full day's worth of energy.

By far, one of my favorite hikes in the Sups! The climb up to the summit is Awesome...
