Easily accessible hike, and the most popular attraction on the Isle of Skye. Gradual hike up to the cliffside formations, start early as there are lots of people. Cold and windy late September hike.

A short hike to some wonderful cascading Falls and then Plodda Falls itself about 30 minutes south of Inverness. Easy hike with a nice payoff.

Chose this "less strenuous" circuit to the Heart of Rocks, long hike, long day with many breaks. Lucky enough to see a coatimundi with a young one! Many animals on this two day trip, night drive back to Willcox was nerve wracking with rabbit, mice and javelina road crossings, slowed car down considerably! Last time in this park was twenty-one years ago, long overdue! At that visit had taken the trail from Visitor Center to Heart of Rocks. What a grand park is this, so beautiful tucked away in our state.

Pretty cold temps (low 30's) and slightly weary travel bones put a damper on us climbing to the plateau opposite the beautiful Subterranean City, Matera, the second oldest continually occupied city in the world. Trekked into a few caves, amazed to learn that people resided in some of these until the mid-1950s, when Italian authorities forced the occupants out due to health and sanitation issues. Another place to return in warmer climate.

Glorious hike parallel a stream amidst a number of ruins from the XII century north of the town of Amalfi. This was one of our two planned hikes during our fourteen night trip to Italy. Little bit of rain and a local dog that joined us added to the fun. The payoff at the end of the one way route was an alcove with hanging moss, vines and dripping water, a stunning sight! Would love to do this hike again someday in a slightly warmer season. One to remember...

World famous hike traversing the glorious Amalfi Coast, which we had researched several times. There are several ways to tackle this beautiful hike, we headed east towards Positano and took the 1700 (1500?) steps down from Nocelle to the sea. A little chilly on this day (during this two week trip!) but so happy to enjoy this lovely country again.

Hike from Sorrento, Italy to wonderful Roman ruins and a bathing alcove. This place is not a secret but at this time of year we were the only ones around. Extensive ruins abound right at the Gulf of Naples, what a cool place. Would love to return at a warmer time to enter the alcove bath.
