Great hike, lovely park. A little busier than I am used to but overall a great experience. My 4 and 2 year old hiked the entire thing, well the 2 year old got a little tired and hungry halfway around but it was an easy and great family hike.

Easy local hike to do real quick. I recommend this one to all the out of towners asking for an easy weekend hike to knock out.

Lovely hike, very easy and nice transition back into easy hikes after last week. A beautiful lake and area a bit up in altitude from Tucson so it was a bit cooler. Very crowded though, I was surprised by how crowded it was. Not the trail itself, for the most part I had it to myself once I got past the campgrounds. I ran into a handful of folks. But no privacy either, only for a few short moments was I ever out of eye sight or ear shot of boaters/fishers. I did get lost. At one point the trail forked and I went right instead of left. Walked about 1/4 of a mile down and thought, this isn't the right trail and back tracked. I was still on an established trail, just not the right one. I took my time, a nice leisurely stroll, lots of pictures. It was fun.

Did this last weekend. Almost died, not really but I felt like I was going to. It was my first big hike. Here are my notes; I went counter clockwise. I started at 0930 and got back to my car at 1500. I skipped inspiration point.
Echo Canyon loop was incredible. It was high elevation and had some awesome vistas of the hoodoos and surround area. It had quite a bit of traffic on it but I was by myself and so it was nice to walk and talk with strangers. This was probably my favorite stretch.
Upper Rhyolite was nice at the bottom. Getting down was a little hairy in places but I'm a weakling. The bottom of the canyon I felt like I was no longer in Arizona, very beautiful area and luckily there was no water in the creek.
Sarah Deming. I ate lunch just before starting up this trail. And up and up it goes! It was very pretty and luckily there was a stout breeze to keep things cool. A very pretty trail and plenty of shade to go around but nothing "picture worthy".
Heart of the Rocks Loop. The real reason anyone goes, I think? Very cool to walk around and be close to the hoodoos. My second favorite probably for two reasons. 1 is I was tired by this point and so my energy levels dipped. The second is the trail can be sketchy in places. Not dangerous but not an easy relaxing walk through the woods either.
From there I did the balanced rock trail which I found quite dull, with signs of a recent-ish forest fire? This was my least favorite.
I skipped inspiration point, I was tired.
Mushroom rock was nice. The only part I hated was every step down meant I was going to have to come back up. Very well shaded area though and flatish based on the rest of the loop at this point.
Ed Riggs felt like just a way to get back to the parking lot than a real trail meant to enjoy.

Overall, towards the end of my journey I was ready to be done. I just wanted to be home, which is probably why I am sitting at my house today instead of on my way to a new trail. I am really glad I did it though. I have since recommended it to several coworkers all week.

Very enjoyable hike. Drove out from Tucson, about 2.5 hours to go on a hike with the kiddos, about 2 hours. Not a terrible drive and a very enjoyable hike. It is very pretty in this area and I think the pictures only barely do it justice. A few campers and quite a few folks, many more than I expected, on the trail hiking and enjoying a beautiful day.

Did this hike with my three year old and one year old. A little rough for the stroller but we managed. The three year old kept wanting to run full speed to the edge, made my heart stop a few times. When he wasn't doing that he preferred to sit and play in the dirt. A great trail and a great way to start a day at the petrified forest national park.

Probably the best trail in the park that we walked anyway. We skipped the Blue Mesa trail because of kids and a stroller and that gargantuan hill. This trail was awesome though, so much to see and look at. Took a dozen or so photos. Very enjoyable and the highlight of our trip.

Not my favorite. A decent way to end the day but it really lacked the pizzaz and beauty of the rest of the park. Not to mention it was a nightmare to push the stoller on this trail. So many steps but the kids took it like a champ. A great way to end the day and a trip though.

A lovely hike. My three year old hiked almost half of it himself. We went clockwise and luckily he was done hiking before we got to the backside. It was a little rough over there. Very enjoyable, we also skipped the spur to the peak. With an extra 30 pounds on your bag that squirms, it was a little more than I wanted to handle.

Did the Ramsey Canyon hike this morning. A beautiful morning for it! It was nice a cool, the water was flowing. We didn't make it all the way out to the overlook at the end of the trail with a 1 and 3 year old being carried. Still, thoroughly enjoyable and we hope to go back to see the colors in November.

Lovely trail. We went out on the meadow trial and returned on the Mt. Lemmon trail. A fantastic trip and my three year old made almost the entire trip on his own. Had to throw him on my back the last 1/2 mile or so coming back to the parking lot.

Went for a little jog up Tumamoc. It was tough and steep. Too tough and steep for a run all the way up for me. I'll try again soon though. Nice views of Tucson at the top.

My first hike in the Arizona desert. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Hiked it with my two year old on my back.
