This photo doesn't show how steep this grade was at 18%. It reminded me of that really steep hill you go up/down at Thompson Peak.

Many people usually avoid walking this section. People are concerned about the Meseta on the Camino Frances and Via de la Plata because, due to the flat un-changing landscape, it’s very hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. That is why people usually skip this part. But those who skip the Meseta will miss long stages, empty landscapes and big skies which are totally worth to walk!
