Ballantine to somewheres past Boulder Flat. First time on this trial did not expect it to be this rocky and uphill. There was a morning rainstorm so it must have brought the best little creatures today. Starting out around noon at Ballantine TH. It was perfect weather a few clouds and cool with a very nice breeze. The grind up was full of lose rocks and Stones probably from the storm, Great workout and for the ankles too. Not sure how far I went past the flats but as I turned around sure enough I see the rare and infamous Desert Tortoise. I have pics will submit... Then, not even 10-20 yards down I'm cruising along down the trail and see yet another Desert Tortoise!! Sure enough I am almost back to the Ballantine and Pine Creek Junction and the clouds started building again was around 3pm then hiked down to my car and went home to sure enough look over to the Verde River and spot Two HUGE Bald Eagles!!!! New to site will submit pics of this trip once i figure it out! I think I am going to do this trail again this weekend and hike up to the pine-tree area. I wouldn't mind doing the Cline trailhead one either to be honest.
