Although I enjoyed the solitude, the last portion of the hike was almost heartbreaking. There was a ton of garbage along the trial between Green Thumb and the trailhead (beer bottles, soda cans, chewing tobacco tins) and some moron has taken to defacing Green Thumb with graffitti. I say if you're gonna do this hike, do it counterclockwise. That way you get the nastiness out of the way first.
