| partners | | Although the Forest Service claims the road was closed to repair it and was to reopen by June 2010 as I was told at the Mesa office in January, since I'm posting this triplog in October I'm glad I didn't hold my breath. I think rehabilitating the area is what they meant and never planned on opening the road. Whatever, the best bet is to hike in from the Crosscut Trail Head.
Although I've done this many times since the road has been closed and more cairns are gradually showing up, being created by many different individuals there still doesn't appear to be one "default" route. No matter, if you head for the left of the mini-Weaver's Needle you can take whatever route and still get there.
The hike was made enjoyable by the lush green vegetation, plenty of wild flowers and even a reasonable amount of flow over the falls. On the return trip we headed across to the west before turning north to get back to the trail head so we racked up more elevation gain than expected.
