I had planned a trip for next Saturday to do this with a bunch of friends and I still plan on doing that. The thing is after reading about it I just didn't know what I was getting into nor did I want to take others who may or may not be comfortable with such a hike. Basically I was Scouting things out today. It was as windy as anywhere I have ever been but otherwise was a beautiful day for this hike. I made it to the top just fine as I took it nice and slow up the scree shute. I was more concerned about getting down but that went okay as well. Just slow and easy foot and hand holds. I looked for a sign in box up top but couldn't find one anywhere. My time reflects about 15-20 minutes at the summit. I just can't personally imagine doing this one with snow/ice on the way up. Kudos to all who have done this one and especially kudos to those who have done it in adverse conditions. This is something I won't soon forget. Shush to those going with me next Saturday as I don't want them to know I have already been up and have already done the 60 in the book. |
